What are your greatest fears?

The world has been thrown into a tailspin with this Coronavirus, COVID-19. Many people are fearful based on the destruction that has been caused by this virus. It’s only natural from a human standpoint to be fearful.

It has been echoed that this virus mostly affects persons that have underline issues such as chronic illnesses. Come to think of it though, many people are dealing with some underline issue. These include diabetes, high or low blood pressure, cholesterol problems, obesity, chronic sinuses, to name a few. So basically what we are saying here, is that this virus comes to wipe out as many of humanity as it can.

With this in mind, many become fearful. Fearful of contracting the virus, fear of been isolated from family and friends, and been alone. Fear of depending on a machine to breathe, fear that a doctor or nurse may have to decide whether they live or die, but most of all, the fear of dying. Dying without the saviour, and not sure of where they will spend their long eternity.

The weapon of this virus is FEAR!!!

It’s first tool is to get mankind to fear, and that’s exactly how the Devil works.

But GOD said FEAR NOT!!!

Isaiah 41:10 KJV

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Joshua 1:9 KJV

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Fear is the opposite of faith. Now, this is where we need to make a decision. Are we going to fear or have faith? I know it is not easy but think of it as if you have been caught between a “rock and a hard place” and you must make a decision. Fear is a spirit and we cannot fight a spirit by ourselves and win. We need the power and knowledge of Jesus Christ. Never go into a battle without your weapons. For you to win this warfare of fear you need the armory of God.

For Non-Christians this is even more difficult because they lack the fortitude that Christians have in Christ, hence their battle with fear becomes unbearable to which they often fall prey. I can only encourage you to allow Christ in and let him help you to fight this battle.

For Christians, you need to know where you stand with Christ. It is difficult when a Christian become fearful, as this may be brought on because of some uncertainty or doubt you may be having of your salvation in Christ. You need to strengthen your stake in Him and this can only be done through having the right knowledge of what Christ has done for us.

The only requirement Christ ask for us to get and remain saved is:

 1 John 1:9 KJV

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Too many of us are depending on ourselves to save ourselves, and that’s the reason why so many of us struggle with our salvation, but nothing we do can save us. So forget you and rely only on Christ for your salvation. Your lying, stealing, killing, etc, or not lying, stealing or killing cant save or damn you. You can only be saved by relying totally on what Christ has done for you or be damned by not relying on Him. When you can settle that in your heart then you can have the peace of God and be ready to win the battle with fear.

Romans 4:6 KJV

Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,

Romans 5:17 KJV

For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.

Now let’s establish how we see God

Do you see God as weak, and afraid of Satan, and one who has lost many battles? or do we see Him as strong, powerful, in control of everything, not afraid of Satan, and has never lost a battle?

If you believe in the God you serve, then the battle is already won.

The misunderstanding many people have is the concept that the Coronavirus is God punishing people for their sins; Christians, and non-Christians alike. Based on biblical teachings it is understood that we are now living in a period popularly called a dispensation “of Grace”. Grace is a time when God allows his people to come to Him and receive mercy and grace for their sins. After this dispensation, we will be having the dispensation of judgment, but for now, we are in the time of grace. It cannot be both. Therefore God is not judging or punishing people at this time.

What we must understand is that although we are forgiven of sin there are always consequences for wrongdoings. So let take an example. If someone who is a Christian go out and steal, he can ask God for forgiveness and will receive it, but if he is caught by the law despite been forgiven by God he will still bear the penalty of the law of the land. That’s not God punishing him, that’s the law of the land taking effect.

Let’s take another example, if a woman goes out and commit adultery or fornication, she may become pregnant or get an incurable disease and although she can ask God’s forgiveness and get it, that does not prevent the child from coming or her from having the disease as a consequence of her behaviour. Hence man’s wrong behavior will produce consequences and that’s not God punishing him, but him suffering the consequences of his wrongdoings.

So then, Corona is not been used by God to punish us. Corona will affect Christians and non-Christians because we are all living in a natural world that runs by behaviour and consequences.

So how can the word of God help us? We must believe the God we serve. God understands our fears but he expects us to believe in HIM. He can protect us and if infected, he can heal us.

Philippians 4: 6-7 KJV

Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

We can trust God to cover and shield us from sickness and death at this time.

Have you ever been in love? How does it feel? What action does it produce from you?

When you love someone you want to do everything for them that pleases them and are beneficial to them. You want to provide and protect them, You will defend them to the point even when you know they are wrong…Now if as mere humans we feel and behave so passionately, can you imagine what God will do for us, the people who are the apple of His eyes?

Let’s take a look at these scriptures.

Joshua 1:9 KJV

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Isaiah 41: 13 KJV

For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not;
I will help thee.

Ps 118:6 KJV

The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?

Psalms 23: 4 KJV

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Proverbs 29:25 KJV

The fear of man bringeth a snare:
but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.

Dueteronomy 31: 6 KJV

Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

We need to start believing God’s word and begin to rest in His promises, knowing that He is a God that never lies. Do you serve a great, mighty, and powerful God who promises to protect you? if you do, you need to start putting your total trust and confidence in Him.
